History and Evolution of AA Profession Module 4 Practice Test

Anonymity in AA protects member privacy and keeps the focus on recovery rather than individuals. By safeguarding names and personal details in meetings and in public, it reduces fear of stigma, judgment, or professional or social repercussions, which helps people feel safe enough to share honestly and seek help. This principle also supports humility and equal standing within the group—no one stands out as a public figure, and the emphasis stays on the program and what works for recovery. It’s a tradition that guides not just local meetings but how members interact with the media and the public, reminding us to place principles before personalities. It’s not about no one knowing who attends, it’s about protecting identity and avoiding public spotlight, it isn’t about requiring legal name changes, and it’s more than a suggestion—it's a long-standing guiding practice rooted in Tradition Twelve.
